



Biography
Matthew is a Modern Explorer, combining an interest in Deserts, Geography, History, and Anthropology of tribe culture in indigenous people in Africa, the Near East, and the Middle East. He is an Expert on Christmas Island, Indian Ocean, particularly the flora and fauna of the island, as well as its Geopolitics, having lectured for the Royal Geographical Society as a Speaker, and being the great great grandson of Sir John Murray, the founder of the Island. He is an experienced traveller in North Africa, and this is where his passion remains today.
Matthew circumnavigated the world before starting University, and has travelled the world extensively ever since. He is currently embarking on the Lowland Leader Award with Mountain Training, leading hikes in the Surrey Hills and South Downs National Park
He has lived in Cairo teaching with the British Council (part of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office), been a United Nations Volunteer for the OCHA, and has spent periods studying with the University of York and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is currently a Postgraduate Student at the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London (SOAS), where he is researching International Business, Economics, Culture, and Management focusing on the MENA region, and the Sub-Saharan Africa Region.
Matthew has a background in Corporate roles for Blue-Chip Companies, and used to be an Accountant in the City of London. He also works as a Correspondent for the News Agency, HAPPS.
Politically, he has stood as an Election Candidate, campaigned, marched and been a Data Officer for a major political party. He has been alongside Rory Stewart speaking to Afghans at the Afghanistan & Central Asian Association in London. Rory Stewart once described Matthew's words as a "whiff of the four quartets", referring to the series by T. S. Eliot.
He is also an amateur photographer, aspiring Mountaineer and Ultra Marathon runner. He has studied the following languages: French, German, Irish, Japanese, Russian, Arabic (MSA, Egyptian, Levantine), Pashto, Berber (Tamazight). Matthew is one of the only known people to propose a temporal constraint on neutrinos under a modification of Relativity. He also is focused on approaches to crack the Kryptos Cipher. He has studied Wado-Ryu Karate, Shotokan Karate and was taught to meditate by a Buddhist Monk.
Matthew is a Member of the Anglo-Omani Society, CAABU, and the Scientific Exploration Society.
